This is the night that Marcus and Prime hosted the Hard Drive show on behalf of James St. Bass, which then rolled right into the Prophecy. Both these shows span a set of 2 tapes and since they are back to back, we are bringing them to you just like that.
It's thanks to our friend Jennifer for allowing us here at jungletapes.com to digitize her tape collection that we're able to bring you the tapes for both these shows. I was waiting 17 years to hear this Hard Drive Old School show that was talked about the previous week on The Prophecy's Old School show. Somehow we all managed to miss it back in the day. Fortunately, Mike and I decided to start this site and thankfully, somehow, Jennifer found us and was then awesome enough to trust us to digitize her tapes.
So we are proud to present to you this epic show that has some of the music that formed the roots of the culture that would go on to produce what I came to know as jungle / drum and bass music when I got started listening in early 1998. I later discovered this early rave breakbeat techno and hardcore sound which I came to love. Many of the tracks that are played during this show are part of my collection and I have used them in my own mixes for a long time. It's great to hear them played by The Prophecy DJs who must have loved them just as much.
Really you just need to listen and enjoy this show as I have been repeatedly over the last few days while preparing for this release.
The tapes overlap so the middle of Side B of Tape 1 the Prophecy starts at 36:15
The Prophecy portion of the show is full of current jungle tunes that may satisfy your need for something faster after the Hard Drive show. You won't be disappointed because they really change gears at 8:30pm and roll out the beats. Straight into Tape 2 where Caddy Cad steps in on Side A and then on Side B we get Dj Everfresh who spins for the last 30 minutes.
