1999.11.26 - Renegades - Renegade Airwaves Late Night

This is a long recording, but the end of side 4 creeps up on you, making it seem short.  The recording spans over 4 tape sides, and it's the closest I ever got to recording a full Renegade Airwaves show.

The show starts off with a set from Mystical.  No talking, no commercials, he just gets down to business with a dark jungle set.  With about 10 minutes left in the Mystical set L Natural shows up, and then HE gets down to business, busting out some nice rhymes right away.  It's a momentum changing moment, things don't really let up after L Natural touches down.

After Mystical wraps things up (last 10 minutes of his set are dope BTW), it's time for Slip n Slide.  Another solid set.

About halfway through the third tape side two things happen around the same time;  Caddy Cad takes over the MC'ing duties from L Natural and Lush touches down.

Caddy brings a lot of energy, and for the next 80 minutes we're witness to that rare bond between DJ and MC.  Lots of energy in Lush's extended set.

Then, with about 5 minutes left on side 4, King.  Turbo.  Shows.  Up.  

Back in the day, I didn't know who King Turbo was, but according to Lush they were Toronto legends that "...used to record their radio show in the same building on the same nights that we (Vinyl Syndicate) did Renegade Airwaves."  Earlier in the night there are a couple of references by the regular MC's about the KT crew 'in the other room'.  

So, King Turbo busts out some crazy fast rhymes in a totally different style from Caddy, and it's weird, but, also fun and kinda cool.  It's one of those unique radio show moments that you can't really compare to anything else, and then thats it's it.  The end of the 4th tape side kinda creeps up on you.  It's a long recording but it feels like a short one.
