This is one of my all time favourite tapes.  I clearly remember recording this tape too.  Back in 1999 it would have been Saturday night, and usually I'd be hanging out with friends, but I was stuck at home that night.  I made the most of the situation though and rigged up the hi-fi system in the living room as best I could and I recorded this tape.  Looking back I'm actually kind of glad thats what happened to me because this tape is just.so.dope.  It wasn't by accident though, I had planned in advance to record my first Rinse Out show and make it something special.  So to do that I ended up buying my first Metal Type IV tape from the downtown Grimsby Radio Shack.   I remember this tape being pretty expensive too, way more than a regular tape.  I also remember waiting for Muffin to even show up.  I would have been monitoring CKLN on headphones, and I do remember not starting the recording right at 10pm because Muffin was late.  But here's the thing, Muffin being late was perfect for me and any other recording heads out there with just one 90 minute tape.  It meant that I was able to get most of the whole set on one tape.  The evidence of the late start is on the tape itself too, I wrote 10:20 - 11:50, which was 10 minutes before midnight, and 10 minutes before the Rinse Out show would have been wrapping up.

So whats the music like?  Well, 15 years ago I wrote Hip Hop Intro and Dangerous Jungle Rinse on the tape sleeve, and I think that sums it up.  I've listened to this tape so many times, the case itself is pretty beat up, pretty sure it came to Europe with me in 2000, and I've made CD burns of the recordings that have travelled long distances too.  It's also been passed on to friends, and it seems like people just love it.  So yah, Big ups Muffin, what else can I say?  If you're like me, you'll come back to this one again and again, it's one of the best.  There's more than a handful of hip hop tracks dropped on Side A alone and it's just amazing.  Muffin mixes the hip hop tracks in with the jungle and makes it sound effortless.  I kind of feel though that he's just making it sound easy.   This set actually has some really great mixing that would have taken lots of skill.  The track selection is thought out too, it's got a very deliberate, cerebral flow.  So check it out and the let it roll, it's Medicine Muffin in control!
